Now for the PM 3-5: aka Diabolos

This guy can be a bitch and a half.......no two whole bitches, if not prepared. As we've been doing so far I don't see this being a problem for us however he can cheat and he can be a douche and pull something out of nowhere. So it's best that we be prepared :)

Firstly cutscenes. There aren't many for this one:

  1. Firstly head to Upper Jeuno to the Infirmary and talk to Monberaux(G-10)
  2. Then head to Lower Jeuno and talk to Ghebi Damomohe(I-7) in Neptunes Spire.

And all set on CS's for this mission next we'll need to get everyone one of three Rare/Ex chips: The Cyan Chip, the Carmine Chip or the Gray Chip. If you are feeling up to it you can get a cyan chip on your own from the uncapped section of Pso'Xja where Nue spawns from Snow Lizards or Frost Lizards. You don't need the pass to get in and can do it at anytime. If not, we will farm for whoever needs one until everyone gets them.

Once everyone has chips we'll take them back to Lower Jeuno and trade them to Ghebi Damomohe and she'll give you the Pso'Xja pass to get into the Shrouded Maw to fight Diabolos.

To get to the BC we'll need to go through the (H-8) entrance to Pso'xja from the Beaucedine Glacier.

**The level cap will be 40. Weapons and Armor are a must for this mission**

Once we get into Pso'Xja we'll need to go to through 4 warps in order Red > Black > Red > Black. That may not seem very clear but it will make sense once we get there. After that we'll get on an elevator go through one last door using the pass we got in Lower Jeuno and we'll be at the BC.

Now that we're here what do we do? What items to we need?

Items:

Everyone will need Sneak and Invisible. It is preferable to bring Oils and Powders because there are bomb type mobs here that will aggro to Magic.

The tanks should bring some Hi-Pots. While the mages should bring their typical stockpile of Yag Drinks and Hi-Ethers. A RR earring or two wouldn't be a bad idea either. Some people say that it is wise to bring Poison Pots for this but I tend to disagree. I'd say 21HP a tick Bio is bad enough. Don't need to tack on the extra from poison when it won't wake you up anyway.

Diabolos

Obivously we'll be fighting Diabolos for this battle. So lets see what he's got:

Of this the worst and most essential to stun is Nightmare. This attack, for lack of a better word, blows. It is the kiss of death about 95% of the time. If we can avoid that attack, we win. So how do we avoid it?

Did I read that right? He drops floor tiles? WTF? That's right! He does drop floor tiles, and if you're unlucky enough to be standing on one of those floor tiles you get sent into a pit of hungry diremites. Don't want that to happen cause you won't be coming back for the rest of the battle. He can also knock you off of the tile your standing on and you can fall into the pit of death. Again, You don't want that to happen. How do we avoid that? Well Allakhazam did something right and has a wonderful diagram for us to follow. Here are the three possible combinations of floor tiles he will drop: (X = Dropped Tile, O = Safe Tile)

Number 1:
O O O X X
O X O O O
O X O X O
O O O X O
X X O O O
Number 2:
O X O X O
O O O O O
O O X O O
X O X O X
X O O O X
Number 3:
X O O O X
O O X O O
X O O O X
O O X O O
X O O O X

Eliminating all the possible X's looks like this

X X O X X
O X X O O
X O X X X
X X O O X

We'll be standing like this for the boss fight:

X X O X X
O X X D <
X O X X X
X X O ^ X

Melee and DD will be standing in the second row from the top facing in the direction of the arrow. Mages will be standing in the last row facing in the direction of the arrow. Diabolos will be where the D is. /hurray for ASCII diagrams ^.^

Party Setup:

Party setup here is crucial to success. Stunning is of the most importance here. Head Butt from BLU, Stun from Dark Knights, and Tachi:Hobaku from the SAM(only in a pinch) is virtually required to win this battle. Remember how I said he cheats? This is where you will see him doing it. He likes to spam back to back to back Nightmares when he's low on HP. It can be frustrating to say the least.

I'd like to see a party set up like this:

Party 1:

The other slots in the parties are wildcard but should include Mostly Melee and DD's. This may not be a one party mission depending on what jobs people have. We may need to split up those who need the fight into two parties and fight him twice. We can decide on that on Wednesday before we leave for Pso'Xja.

Strategy

Our strategy will be to go in hard doing as much damage as quickly as possible. The Blu's / Drk's should always be on the lookout for Nightmare and should set their chatlogs to only show party chat and the special moves as to not miss it amongst clutter. Like I said before, if even one Nightmare is let through we lose. There is always a slim chance that we pull it out but the odds aren't that good. If things are going well after the first two nightmares pass by we can start burning 2hr's to get him down quicker if necessary. Once we get the rhythm down and as long as he doesn't start cheating we should pull through no problem.

Seeing as mammets went so well I don't see us having too much of an issue with this mission. See you all on Wednesday!
